I think agree with Lesslie Newbigin... Do you?
‘How is it possible that the gospel should be credible, that people should come to believe that the power which has the last word in human affairs is represented by a man hanging on a cross? I am suggesting that the only answer, the only hermeneutic of the gospel, is a congregation of men and women who believe it and live by it. I am not… denying the importance of the many activities by which we seek to challenge public life with the gospel… But I am saying that these are all secondary, and that they have power to accomplish their purpose only as they are rooted in and lead back to a believing community.’

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful quotation—it really hit home for me. I think that Lesslie Newbigin makes a very valid point. And the quote made me very curious about “Multiplying Churches”—is it a book that you would suggest for someone involved in children’s ministry? Thank you for sharing—you’ve given me quite a bit to think about!
ReplyDeleteHey Katrina.
ReplyDeleteThe book is good. Gives a basic theology of church as it relates to mission, and therefore why we if we want to do mission then a key part of that mission should be to plant churches. Also gives some good principles for church planting.
It's a church planting book. But I think a useful read for anyone in Christian ministry. And it's only about 100ish pages. So a quick easy read!
