How interesting that none of these books are written by women - only men!
ReplyDeletehmm, that is interesting (I didn't even think about that which is probably interesting too!)
ReplyDeleteAny books written by women you'd recommend?
Thanks for sharing the post Chris. It is indeed interesting about the lack of women being listed but the survey was based solely on the suggestions of readers so it only reflects the books they submitted. If you or "arthurandtamie" do run across any good books by women on leadership, please swing back by my post and add a comment listing them. We'd love to add them to the list when we do a 2.0 version of it. :) Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that of all the good Lewis books out there only Mere Christianity is referenced. Honestly, that would not be my first choice.
ReplyDeleteNope, sadly, I haven't got much to add. As Daniel points out, the prevalence of men on the list is more indicative of who people are listening to than any particular bias on his part. Although I guess it does make a statement about our society.
ReplyDeleteMost of the books I've read on leadership are by men too. The only one by women that I'd recommend is Nancy Beach's 'Gifted to Lead'. She was the first woman on staff at Hybels' church and wrote the book specifically for women with leadership gifts. I've reviewed it here. http://arthurandtamie.wordpress.com/2009/08/11/book-review-gifted-to-lead/

Try "Forces for Good" http://www.forcesforgood.net/ instead of Jim Collins " Good to Great". The business model for NGO is totally different from commercial organisations and often Church leaders go off tangent because they haven't read widely.
ReplyDeleteThe other all time must read is now "Half the sky".
